Snacking

Cindy Crawford, supermodel and mum, still looks fantastic in her forties. She credits her slim figure and healthy body to snacking during the day. She is said to snack between breakfast and lunch and again mid-afternoon so she is not starving by the time she sits down to eat a full meal at mealtimes. This helps cut down the amount you would then eat at mealtimes.

However be careful to eat only healthy snacks. Sensible snacks would include fresh vegetables, fresh fruit and dried fruit, low fat yoghurts and crispbreads with low-fat spreadings such as marmite, low sugar jam or low fat cheese spread. Holland & Barrett do a range of healthy snacks such as bags of fresh nuts and dried fruit.

Snacking keeps energy levels up and metabolism revving so you are constantly burning calories. Liz Hurley is also a fan of snacking as a version of celebrity diets to lose weight. You could also try snacking on low calorie protein snacks such as cottage cheese and ham slices.
